The numerical symbolism of the point guard position is number 1 and there is a reason for that. Number 1 signifies a beginning, a starting point and everything follows number 1. Much like number 1, the point guard is the starting point of a basketball team in the court and everybody follows the rhythm that the point guard sets. This is how important this position is. In the first decade of the 21st century we had the opportunity to watch some great point guards play. I consider Allen Iverson as a point guard although he was more of a scorer than a playmaker and I put him at number 3 because even if Iverson was an unbelievable player, one of the best I’ve ever seen, he was not as good as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash in playing the point guard position.
